If you have recently had a baby and are considering a special service for them in church, then congratulations! Having a child christened is the first step on an amazing journey with God and we would love to welcome you to St John's!

During a christening your child shall be baptized and because baptism is an important event we recognise the importance of baptism peparation.

Baptism preparation at St John's involves three elements:

  1. Regular attendance at our 10.30 service;
  2. A short welcome of all those preparing for the baptism of children at our all age service; and,
  3. A 60-minute Sunday afternoon baptism class which we run regularly during the year.

We usually conduct christenings on the first and last Sunday of the month at 12.30; however, if there are reasons why you'd like a particular date we will do our best to accommodate your preferred date. If you would like to request a christening please complete this form and bring it with you to one of our services.

We also run a Breakfast Welcome every 2nd Sunday of the month between 9.15 and 10.15 at which we serve a continental-style breakfast free of charge. This provides you with a good opportunity to discuss your christening with Richard, our vicar, and meet other families in the parish.

More information about christenings can be found here.
